If you are bringing a vehicle with you and will be residing in the Netherlands for any length of time, it is typically financially beneficial to import your vehicle rather than maintain a vehicle with a foreign registration. The procedure to import a vehicle is straightforward (although bureaucratic) and is administered by Customs and the RDW.
Before you can use your vehicle on Dutch roads, you must first obtain a Dutch registration number and certificate, pay the required road tax, and arrange for obligatory third-party liability insurance for your vehicle.
